“…for one’s live does not consist in the abundance of possessions.”  This sounds a bit like the sarcastic poster that states “Whoever dies with the most toys, wins.”  It is true that society quite often bases its idea of success or failure on material achievement and fame.  As followers of Jesus, our success or failure as disciples is based on grace and our fidelity to our call, not on our bank account or even on how many converts we’ve made.

Next week, Pr. John begins his holiday and we welcome Pr. John Boehmer as our presiding minister for three of the four Sundays in August.  The second Sunday in August will be a lay-led “Hymn sing” service as a change of pace.

Pastor John will be on holidays from August _ - __.  In case of pastoral emergency, please contact Jon Bunde (519-773-7133) who will contact the on-call pastor.  We welcome Pr. John Boehmer, who will be supplying on August 7, 21 & 28.  Fred Neukamm will lead the service on August 14, which will also be a “Hymn-sing”.

Welcome!

Everyone is invited to stay for fellowship after the service.

We pray today for all the sick in our congregation, especially Else Kalmbach and her son, and John Weninger.  May God grant all of them His healing grace in Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Offering Envelopes – If you need more envelopes, there are some in the Fellowship Hall.  Everyone has unnumbered envelopes, so please remember to put your name, date and donation amount on the front of each envelope so you get credit for your donations.

PAR – Pre-Authorized Remittance – Your church needs you!  Signing up for PAR allows you to make donations on a monthly basis even if you’re not in church.  Application forms are available on the table in the Fellowship Hall.  All you have to do is complete the form, attach a VOID cheque and put it in the offering plate or in the church office.

Communion Cards are required to be completed once per year per person.  If you have not completed one yet this year, please ask the usher for one.

OCTOBER 31, 1517 - LUTHER PROTESTS – LUTHERANS STILL WORSHIPING 500 YEARS LATER

We are all familiar with that date ... in 2017 we will be celebrating the 500th anniversary of Luther's hammer, nails and paper demonstration at the door of the Wittenberg Church.  Starting in the fall of 2016 we begin our celebration of this big anniversary year.

The eight congregations of Thames Ministry Area will be gathering on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at 3:30 pm for a Reformation Celebration Worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 746 Colborne St, London (corner of Oxford & Colborne), with special guest Bishop Michael Pryse.  The service will be followed by a catered meal - cost $15 – reservations are required.  The main course will be chicken or a vegetarian option.

If you are interested in attending, please sign up on poster in Fellowship Hall or contact Trudy Bunde @ 519-773-7133 or tbunde69@gmail.com   Reservations and payments must be made by September 18.

  1. Ukrainian soldiers modify an RPG-22 on the front lines of a war still raging in Donetsk Oblast, an embattled region in Ukraine's east.
The RPG-22 is a one-shot disposable rocket launcher designed for use against armoured vehicles and fortifications.bryce wilson australia
Through the improvised modification displayed in this video, the RPG-22 can be modified to fire further than its 150-200 meter range.
