“…for one’s live does not consist in the abundance of
possessions.” This sounds a bit
like the sarcastic poster that states “Whoever dies with the most toys, wins.” It is true that society quite often bases its
idea of success or failure on material achievement and fame. As followers of Jesus, our success or failure
as disciples is based on grace and our fidelity to our call, not on our bank
account or even on how many converts we’ve made.
Next week, Pr. John begins his holiday and we welcome
Pr. John Boehmer as our presiding minister for three of the four Sundays in August.
The second Sunday in August will be a
lay-led “Hymn sing” service as a change of pace.
Pastor
John will be on holidays from August _ - __.
In case of pastoral emergency, please contact Jon Bunde (519-773-7133) who
will contact the on-call pastor. We
welcome Pr. John Boehmer, who will be supplying on August 7, 21 & 28. Fred Neukamm will lead the service on August 14,
which will also be a “Hymn-sing”.
Welcome!
Everyone is
invited to stay for fellowship after the service.
We pray today for all
the sick in our congregation, especially Else Kalmbach and her son, and John
Weninger. May God grant all of them His
healing grace in Jesus Christ. Amen.
