You may have heard the saying "Tell the truth and shame the Devil." Here we have another idea - be merciful and upset the Devil.
To be merciful is to imitate God and what better way is there to spend our lives? I think that "mercy" and "grace" might be ideas/concepts/words that could be interchangeable.
In any event, be merciful as God is merciful. At least try to be... and allow God's mercy to make up the difference when we fall short.
