A Moment Aside --- 14 October 2021
I’ve been told that Martin
Luther constantly preached on this subject – salvation by Christ and his grace
alone – because the people constantly forgot.
This might still be the
case. We constantly compare ourselves with others over ability, energy, intelligence,
virtue, and/or the gifts we’ve been given. (I know this from personal
experience.) We still need to be reminded that the grace of God is the real
thing, the most true thing, the thing we cannot deserve or attain on our own.
“… Out of sheer grace”
might be the most amazing thing we’ll ever hear. In hearing that, we can
experience it for it applies to each and every one of us.
We will forget this…
because we’re human.
God will not forget…
because God is God.
And that will be more than
enough.
